Food Technology

At Castle School, food technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and create, build and apply a repertoire of knowledge, understanding and skills. They create, critique, evaluate and test ideas and products and the work of others. Pupils learn about and apply the principles of nutrition and learn how to cook. They also learn how to budget and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Food technology is also used as a vehicle to deliver the 'Our World' curriculum by exposing students to food and traditions from a variety of cultures, following a curriculum which follows cultural festivals throughout the year.

Have a look at some lovely food technology that inspired us during Wonder Week 2022.

Students will use their food technology sessions to meet individual EHCP goals, usually in Physical, Sensory and Life Skills area.
