Welcome to our Sixth Form!
Our Sixth Form provides a supportive, ambitious and inclusive environment where young people continue to Be Kind, Be Confident and Be Creative as they prepare for life beyond Castle. Building on their KS4 learning, students are encouraged to take greater ownership of their choices, aspirations and next steps.
Learning is personalised around each student’s strengths, interests, EHCP outcomes and future goals. English, Maths and PSHE remain our golden threads, with an increasing focus on developing and applying functional skills in meaningful, everyday situations. Students continue to work towards appropriate accreditation, recognising their individual progress and achievements.
Preparation for Adulthood is at the heart of our Sixth Form curriculum. Learning extends beyond the classroom, with strengthened opportunities to develop skills in the local community. Students practise travelling safely, using local facilities and services, managing money, communicating with others and making informed choices, building confidence and independence in real-life contexts.
Preparation for the world of work is also an important part of the Sixth Form journey. Students explore their interests and aspirations, develop employability skills and experience opportunities that help them understand different roles, responsibilities and workplace expectations.
Above all, we support our young people to put their learning into practice – developing the functional skills, confidence, self-advocacy and independence they need to participate meaningfully in their communities and move towards further learning, employment and fulfilling adult lives.
