For our pre-formal learners, we bring maths alive using approaches that explore the key prerequisites of mathematical awareness. This includes developing contingency awareness, positional awareness, vision, handling objects, object permanence, and an understanding of time, sequence, and routine.

Maths is embedded holistically throughout the day, with opportunities to explore these concepts in meaningful ways. We use the Attention Autism approach to engage learners and also maths in stories, making maths an interactive and stimulating part of their learning experience. Through these approaches, we help pupils build the foundational skills they need to develop a deeper understanding of mathematics in the context of their everyday lives.

Our pre-formal learners use the early rainbow framework where appropriate and their progress is tracked against student’s individual targets on their EHCP.
