Attendance

If your child is too unwell to attend school, please phone 01223 442400 and select option 2 to report your child’s absence.  Please do this by 9:15 am each day that your child is not well enough to attend school.

Regular attendance is essential and we ask that you inform us of any reason for non-attendance.

Requests in advance for short absences (one day or less) must be put in writing by email to office@castle.cambs.sch.uk , attaching where possible a copy of the appointment notification for any medical appointment, interview or exam.

Requests for longer absences must be made by completing an absence request form, which can be downloaded at the bottom of this page or obtained from the school office.  The completed form should be returned to the school office marked for the attention of the Headteacher. Requests should be made well in advance to allow good time for processing.

The school follows up unexplained absence as quickly as possible and the co-operation of parents is appreciated.  The school works closely with our Education Welfare Officer who helps support attendance.

Parents are asked not to send children to school who are feeling unwell.

Leave of Absence

As a parent or guardian you are strongly urged to avoid booking holidays or visits overseas during term time. Headteachers may not grant leave of absence during term time unless there are 'exceptional circumstances'.

Applications for leave of absence should be made using the form below:
