Welcome to our class!
We are a small and nurturing Secondary class on the Pre-formal Reactive pathway, where learning is built around strong relationships, meaningful interactions and experiences that are engaging, motivating and age-respectful. We support every learner to Be Kind, Be Confident and Be Creative, recognising and celebrating their individual ways of communicating, participating and learning.
Our curriculum is highly personalised around each learner’s strengths, interests, sensory preferences and EHCP outcomes. Through multisensory experiences, stories, music, movement, exploration and shared activities, we create meaningful opportunities for learners to anticipate, respond, make choices and develop their understanding of the world around them.
Our golden threads are embedded naturally throughout the school day. Communication, early literacy and numeracy, personal development and emotional wellbeing are strengthened through familiar routines, real-life experiences and interactions with adults who know our learners well.
As learners move through Secondary, there is an increasing focus on Preparation for Adulthood. We build opportunities for greater choice, independence, self-expression and participation into everyday learning, supporting learners to develop their own voice and become increasingly active in their school and wider community.
Above all, we recognise that every interaction, response and achievement is meaningful. We celebrate each learner’s progress and provide a safe, responsive environment where they feel understood, valued and empowered to engage with the people and world around them.
Class Information
Pembroke class is a class with Pre Formal Reactive Learners.
Curriculum: delivered through a blend of specialist interventions and engaging and motivating experiences, adapted and enriched using themes and texts.
Progress and achievement: tracked and celebrated via Evidence for Learning using PLGs , OCR life and living skills and the Engagement Profile
Targets set using: Routes for Learning, Birth to 5, AET framework, Communication Framework, Engagement model, OCR life and living skills and advice from other professionals such as SALT and OT .
