Castle School

KS1/EYFS at the Fields Centre

Every child at Castle school is a unique child, who is constantly learning and, with our support, can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.

We have a strong sense of exploration throughout our day and, in our classes, the three “Prime Areas of Learning”: Personal, Social + Emotional, Communication and Physical, are the most important focus for each child’s development. Activities are carefully planned to consider the needs of the individual and the “Specific Areas of Learning”: Literacy, Maths, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts, are more evident as distinct teaching sessions for more formal learners.

Pupils are given time to make personal choices and share their interests. They learn to take safe risks and accept challenges in our nurturing, supportive environment.

Assessment is ongoing through observations made and recorded on Evidence for Learning. Progress is assessed using individual EHCP targets and either Castle Rainbow levels and/or using the Engagement Profile.
