Welcome to Balmoral Class!

Balmoral  is a formal Key Stage 3 class for students in Key Stage 4 . We provide a supportive and inclusive environment where students are encouraged to Be Kind, Be Confident and Be Creative, developing as increasingly independent and enthusiastic learners.

Students follow a broad and engaging curriculum including English, Maths, Science, Art, Music, ICT, PE, Humanities, Cooking, DT and PSHE. Learning is personalised around individual strengths, interests, learning styles and EHCP outcomes, with our English, Maths and PSHE golden threads woven throughout the school day. Progress is supported and celebrated through The Castle School’s Rainbows and Gemstones framework.

Building on the foundations of earlier learning, we develop students’ literacy and numeracy through purposeful reading, writing, communication, problem-solving and memory activities. We also place a strong emphasis on emotional wellbeing, self-regulation and positive relationships, creating an environment where students feel confident to share ideas, ask questions, collaborate and take on new challenges.

Preparation for Adulthood is an important part of our KS3 curriculum. Students begin to apply their learning to meaningful, real-life contexts, developing skills such as managing time and money, making choices, communicating effectively and becoming increasingly independent.

Above all, we celebrate progress, achievement and individuality, supporting every student to develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for the next stage of their Castle journey.
