Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Castle School, every pupil has unique strengths, needs, and aspirations. As a special school, all of our pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and require additional support to access learning. Our role is to ensure that pupils feel safe, valued, and confident, and that they are provided with the right support to thrive in school and beyond.

Our Vision for SEND

  • Be Confident – children build self-belief, resilience, and independence.

  • Be Kind – we promote positive relationships, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Be Creative – learning is engaging, relevant, and personalised.

Everything we do is underpinned by the Protective Behaviours ethos:

  • We all have the right to feel safe all of the time.

  • We can talk with someone about anything, even if it feels awful or small.
